2.5 Plumbing Installation
Cold water is supplied directly from the mains via a communal water tank into your new home. The stop cock for the incoming water supply is located in the landlord riser cupboard numbered with the number of your apartment. There is also a further isolation lever valve located in the hall cupboard which is clearly labeled, there is an photograph of it you can view here. We suggest that it is this shut off valve that you use in the case of an emergency.
Do not flush feminine hygiene products, cotton buds, disposable nappies etc down the toilet as they may block the drains.
Please remember that putting any fat, oil or food – e.g. rice – into the kitchen sink can also block the drains.
The vanity units that have been installed all have an exposed bottle trap that can be accessed by pulling the draw out fully and then removing it which will allow easy access to the bottle trap in the case of a blockage. Likewise, the kitchen waste pipe from the sink is also exposed and accessible from the base unit below it.
If there are blockages to baths, showers and toilets, in the first instance we suggest they are flushed with a bleach or similar detergent and if the blockage continues then a plumber should be called and the relevant section of pipework rodded.
The wall mounted toilets have a concealed cistern that is housed behind the stone. If there is a problem with the flush mechanism, then the flush plate can be removed in order to get access to the working parts. It is not necessary to remove any of the stone to gain access to this.
