14.1 Emergency

It is important that you know where the various cut-off switches and taps are for the main services in case of an emergency.

ELECTRICITY

The main cut-off switch cuts off all of the incoming electricity to your apartment. This is the large separate switch on the left hand side of the consumer unit as you look at it, located in the hallway cupboard. You need to lift the cover on the unit to reach the switch. Pushing the switch to the down position turns off the electricity.

WATER

If there is a leak, use the stop cock located in the hall cupboard to stop the flow of water into the apartment. Turning the handle clockwise on the valve until it stops (like turning off a tap) turns off the water.
